Resumable File Uploads with GoodSend

What Are Resumable File Uploads?

Resumable file uploads allow you to continue uploading files from where you left off if your connection is interrupted. This feature is particularly valuable when transferring large files, as it saves time and bandwidth by not requiring you to restart the entire upload process from the beginning.

How Resumable Uploads Work in GoodSend

GoodSend's file transfer system automatically includes resumable upload functionality. If your internet connection drops or your browser closes unexpectedly during an upload, GoodSend will remember the portion of the file that was already uploaded when you return to complete the transfer.

Benefits of Resumable Uploads

  • Save time: No need to restart large uploads from the beginning
  • Reduce bandwidth usage: Only transfer the remaining portions of your files
  • Increase reliability: Successfully send files even with unstable connections
  • Reduce frustration: Minimize the impact of connection issues

Using Resumable Uploads in GoodSend

Step 1: Start Your Upload

  1. Navigate to GoodSend
  2. Drag and drop your files or click to select them (up to 20 files, 10GB total)
  3. Begin the upload process

Step 2: If Your Connection Is Interrupted

If your internet connection drops or your browser closes during upload:

  1. Return to the GoodSend page
  2. Log in if necessary
  3. The system will automatically detect your previous upload attempt
  4. You'll see a prompt asking if you want to resume your previous upload
  5. Click "Resume" to continue from where you left off

Step 3: Complete Your Transfer

Once your resumed upload completes:

  1. Enter the recipient's name and email address
  2. Add an optional message if desired
  3. Click "Send" to deliver your files securely

The recipient will receive an email with a secure link to download the files.

Troubleshooting Resumable Uploads

Issue Solution
Resume option not appearing Clear your browser cache and try again
Upload seems stuck Refresh the page - progress should be preserved
Files won't resume after system restart Files may need to be re-uploaded if your computer was restarted
Browser says "storage quota exceeded" Clear some browser storage space or try a different browser

Best Practices for Large File Uploads

  1. Use a stable internet connection when possible
  2. Close unnecessary applications to maximize bandwidth
  3. Keep your browser tab open during uploads
  4. Check your available credits before starting (each send costs 1 credit/$1.50)
  5. Consider splitting very large files into smaller archives for more reliable uploads

File Expiration and Tracking

Remember that all GoodSend files automatically expire after 7 days for security. You can track email delivery, when emails are opened, and when files are downloaded through your GoodSend dashboard.

Pricing for File Transfers

GoodSend operates on a pay-as-you-go model:

  • $1.50 per send (1 credit)
  • Minimum purchase of 10 credits
  • No subscription required
  • Secure payment through Stripe

Quick Tips

  • For very large files, a wired internet connection provides the most stability
  • Upload speeds depend on your internet connection's upload bandwidth
  • Files continue uploading in the background even if you switch to another browser tab
  • Consider compressing large files before uploading to improve transfer speed
  • Keep the upload page open until you see "Upload Complete" confirmation
  • If a resume fails multiple times, try uploading smaller batches of files
