Overview

GoodSend provides comprehensive file tracking and audit capabilities that allow users to monitor the complete lifecycle of their sent files. This tracking system helps users confirm delivery, understand recipient engagement, and maintain records for compliance and security purposes.

How File Tracking Works

GoodSend automatically tracks every file you send through the service and provides real-time updates on:

  1. Email Delivery - Confirmation when your notification email reaches the recipient's inbox
  2. Email Opens - Records when a recipient opens the notification email
  3. File Downloads - Logs each time your files are downloaded by recipients

Accessing Your Tracking Information

Viewing File Status

  1. Log in to your GoodSend account at https://goodsign.io/goodsend
  2. Navigate to the "History" or "Sent Files" section
  3. Each file transfer will display tracking indicators showing:
    • ✓ Email Delivered
    • 👁️ Email Opened
    • ⬇️ Files Downloaded

Detailed Tracking View

For more detailed information on a specific file transfer:

  1. Click on any transfer in your history
  2. View the complete tracking timeline including:
    • Date and time of send
    • Delivery confirmation timestamp
    • Open timestamp(s)
    • Download timestamp(s) and count

Audit Logs

GoodSend maintains comprehensive audit logs for security and compliance purposes.

What's Included in Audit Logs

Audit logs capture the following information for each file transfer:

Information Description
Sender Details Email address and name of sender
Recipient Details Email address and name of recipient
File Information Name, size, and type of each file
Timestamps Send time, delivery time, open time, download time
IP Addresses IP address of download activities
Expiration Scheduled and actual expiration date

Accessing Audit Logs

  1. Navigate to "Account Settings" or "Security"
  2. Select "Audit Logs" or "Activity History"
  3. Filter logs by date range, recipient, or file status
  4. Export logs as CSV if needed for record-keeping

Notification Settings

GoodSend can alert you at various stages of the file transfer process:

  1. Download Notifications - Receive an email when your recipient downloads files
  2. Expiration Alerts - Get notified before files expire (typically 1-2 days prior)
  3. Failed Delivery Notifications - Be alerted if delivery fails

To manage notification settings:

  1. Go to "Account Settings"
  2. Select "Notifications"

Security Considerations

  • Check if the email address was entered correctly

Issue: Email Opened but No Downloads
